NIMTECH - company profile
NIMTECH was originally established in 1986 by a group of large manufacturers and energy companies such as Pilkington Glass and BNFL. These companies possessed valuable technologies that they believed would be of benefit to other, smaller businesses within the region and so they set up NIMTECH as a not for profit organisation that would assist with knowledge transfer and the exploitation of new technologies. The company’s name is an acronym for New and Improved Technologies and its role was to boost the competitiveness of the region.
Over time, NIMTECH became established as the North West Regional Technology Centre and then, as we engaged more closely with intermediaries and public sector funding bodies, we began to build on our expertise in publicly funded economic development programmes. Over the last two decades, we have worked with organisations such as the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, the European Union, the Innovation Relay Centre, Trade Partners UK, Government Office for the North West and many independent business support organisations both in the UK and overseas.
Now based in Newton le Willows in Merseyside, we specialise in developing and managing economic development programmes that bring real benefit to communities. In addition, however, we offer a wide range of commercial services including marketing support, event management and ICT consultancy.
Today, our goal is to provide business support services of
outstanding value; services which achieve positive, tangible results for our
customers and which contribute to the social and economic prosperity of a region.
